What is a PsyD?
A PsyD is a Doctor of Psychology degree. Unlike a research-based Ph.D,
or Doctor of Philosophy degree, a PsyD is a clinical degree in which
the majority of graduate coursework is designed to develop clinical
and therapeutic skills.
Will she talk to my medical doctor or pediatrician?
With your written permission, Dr. Crumbo will work colaboratively with
your or your child's medical doctor, psychiatrist, or school.
How will she help my child?
Dr. Crumbo utilizes a developmental perspective (see "What
is her treatment philosophy?" below) and works individually
and with the family system to help the child make changes. Play
therapy techniques are often used to help the child express himself/herself
and parents or guardians are involved in filial therapy to learn new
ways of interacting and intervening with their child.
What is her treatment philosophy?
During graduate school and post-graduate training, psychologists develop
an orientation or framework which guides their work with clients. These
orientations, such as psychodynamic or cognitive-behavioral, utilize
various techniques to help clients work through problems. Dr. Crumbo
uses Object-Relations therapy to resolve human relationship conflicts
by developing an understanding of the unique pattern each person uses
to establish and maintain relationships. The ultimate goal is to help
individuals and families develop a healtheir way of relating.
